PicProtect is a technical suite designed to harden personal media against AI exploitation. Moving beyond simple watermarking, our architecture—currently in the advanced hardening and testing phase—utilizes three sophisticated layers:
Adversarial Cloaking (PGD): We apply Projected Gradient Descent (PGD) noise to specific body/clothing regions. This targeted “masking” ensures maximum protection with minimal visual impact on the photo.
C2PA & Metadata Embedding: Integrating industry-standard C2PA manifests to establish provenance and protect image integrity through the processing pipeline.
Ghost Layer Hardening: Implementing LSB (Least Significant Bit) steganography and “Gauntlet” breaking tests to ensure protection survives common social media compression and screenshotting.
While currently undergoing rigorous stress testing to optimize the balance between image quality and protection survivability, PicProtect represents a critical shift toward user-led digital defense.
